Possibly the Lowest Cost Highest Yield e-vestment you could ever make!

Maybe you are like me? I tried MLM, affiliate marketing, door to door selling, lottos, day trading, conventional employment, self employment, competitions ... the list goes on!

Sure, I made a few bucks (quid as we say in the UK) but my income never exploded.

I read, "Think and Grow Rich", "Success Through a Positive Mental Attidude", "Rhinocerous Success", "Tony Robbins" etc. etc. etc.

Still I struggled for an answer to how to make it big.

Then I realised that the key thing is to "Learn From Those That Earn" and do the same sort of thing yourself. Think about it for a minute, the people behind the courses and schemes (the merchants) are all getting rich promoting their own material. They are selling their specialist knowledge, artworks, reports, courses etc.

How to make your knowledge sell

In many cases, they are not personally selling anything, we are! Our reward? Maybe 10% on sales revenue or 2 cents per click on a banner from our web site to theirs. Wouldn't it be better to make 90% on your own product and not put 100% effort into encouraging your visitor to click away from your web site to go to another in the hope that they buy something?

I hope I've given you some food for thought.

And guess what, they are making these big bucks because people like you and me are actively promoting their products. Sure they pay you 10% commission but they get 90% minus a tiny cut from the administrators. Which percentage would you rather get?

The next thing to consider is that if they get 90% per affiliate who markets their product, how many of these merchants have only one affiliate to make them this near 90% commission? We often here about top affiliates making over $1000 per month, so what does the merchant make? Is 100 affiliates an unreasonable number? What do you think? What is 100 x 90%? How does that compare to being one of the affiliates?

I think I've made my point.

Now it's time to see a practical example of the massive income enjoyed by one of these merchants (p.s. this merchant is more generous than most and pays 30% so they only get 70% per sale). Only? ;-)

We all hear about dot com companies making no money and going bust. It must be tough to make a high-income web site right?

Here's a little test for you . . .

Q. Which of these sites makes the most money?

(a) The fancy, professionally designed one

(b) The simple one that looks like a home page with banner ads

Ans. As you probably suspected, it's answer (b). Plus, it's their stats featured above.

Website (a) sells other people's goods.

Website (b) sells information. Information about expired domain names to be precise and they make vast amounts of money from this freely available information!

The perfect product to sell on the internet is one that can be delivered electronically such as information or software. All the customer has to do is click to buy and fill in some credit card information. Then they can download their product and have it delivered immediately.

Maybe you have some specialist knowledge that can be sold via the web or are willing to spend a few days compiling a pack of useful information to save other people time etc.?

Whatever you come up with, one of the biggest hurdles to overcome is how to get visitors to your web site. I cover the basics of how to build and promote a web site on the other pages on this site. What I can't do is work out how each of your competitors gets to the top of the search engine list etc.

But I can help in this respect. The secret is to look at their web site source code (the HTML). This reveals many of the tricks that they used to get to the top. The search engines are constantly changing the way they rank sites in the search results and it pays to know how to keep ahead. Many web marketing professionals subscribe to the various marketing newsletters, training courses and use expensive search engine positioning software and services. Many of them will not get to the top of the search list because of errors of judgement or misinformation.

Surely the best idea is to study how the top site in the search engine result for your key words or phrase got there? It doesn't matter if they broke all the rules in the latest tip sheet or training manual, the fact is that they are at the top and you need to figure out what they did to claim your top spot!

It's virtually free to study the top positioning sites, the only snag is that it's difficult to make sense of the HTML code that the search engines look at. The search engines don't have eyes, they only see the text and codes behind the web pages. To see this text and code (HTML) in a useful way you need a viewer.

One way is to view the source code of the web page with a text editor like windows notepad. You can do this for example in Internet Explorer by clicking on View then HTML. Usually though, it looks really messy and difficult to understand. The ideal tool would tidy up the code and let you clearly see the important parts no matter how well hidden and jumbled up.
